Vehicle theft worries police

Kanye police are investigating a case in which a Toyota Hilux 2.5 Diesel was stolen by three unknown men at Logaba ward in Kanye on Tuesday night.
In an interview, Senior Superintendent, Ruben Mphoeng said the 36-old man who was driving the stolen car was opening the gate to his house when the thieves stroke.
He had left the vehicle idling in front of the gate.
The culprits attacked him near the gate and drove away with the vehicle plate numbered B253BAB belonging to Estate Construction Company.
He said the driver reported the incident to the Kanye Police Station who are still looking for the culprits and the vehicle.
He said the criminals are suspected to have followed the driver from Gaborone to Kanye but he did not notice them.
He also said the robbers were driving another vehicle Toyota Surf Model which was found abandoned at Mmathethe village which was also suspected to have been stolen at Mogoditshane.
He said the stolen vehicle is suspected to have been crossed into South Africa.
Senior superintendent Mphoeng said last month another vehicle was also stolen in Kanye while parked.
He appealed to vehicle owners to install alarms and other security devices in their vehicles. He said vehicle theft is increasing at an alarming rate in Kanye. ENDS
