Employee recognition important - Dr Molutsi

03 Jul 2016

Outgoing Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), acting chief executive officer Dr Patrick Molutsi says recognising contributions employees make to an organisation helps it to achieve its mandated goals and values.

Speaking during the Rolong Landboard performance awards ceremony recently, Dr Molutsi said a well implemented staff appreciation programme had the power to impact nearly every aspect of business.

He said employee recognition was a proven strategy for improving employee engagement as they felt their hard work was valued in their workplace.

“Through that recognition, staff morale is increased, productivity is promoted and even improved staff get easily retained, he said”.

Dr Molutsi implored employees to maintain customer satisfaction by delivering good quality services to the communities at any given time.

However, he said employees are faced with challenges in their workplace that might be social, political or even economic but implored them to soldier on to discharge their duties diligently.

He also urged them to stick to their performance development plans to ensure that they deliver organisational plans and core values accordingly.

He urged them to maintain teamwork as it increases efficiency and productivity in the workplace.

Dr Molutsi said it enables them to accomplish tasks faster and more efficiently than tackling projects individually.

He further implored all supervisors to put their employees’ interests first for them to earn respect and in that way they would have no reason not to perform their assigned task.

Moreover, he urged them to enroll their employees in different short courses in order to create a knowledgeable workforce.

Earlier in his remarks, Rolong Land board chairperson, Mr Ogone Molema said employee recognition is important as it shows that they appreciate all the efforts put by their co-workers to perform the ministry’s mandate by taking services to the people.

He said awards would motivate the employees to work harder in future and he lauded all those who were awarded prizes and also urged others to pull up their socks in future. ENDS
