The World Group of Companies has donated 160 blankets to the needy.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Lobatse Builders World branch manager, Mr Tukie Tshiamo, urged other business operators to embrace social responsibilities and not solely focus on maximising profits.

He said it was important to look out for the less privileged in the communities from where they operated their businesses.

He called for collaborative and partnerships based approaches in the communities by coming up with developmental programmes that would assist in local capacity building to develop beneficial relationships with communities.

Mr Tshiamo said World Group of Companies contributed to communities’ quality of life by supporting them in social services.

He said they would strive to provide employment and economic opportunities in the communities where they operate from.

Kgosi Tshegofatso Setumo from Peleng kgotla lauded group for its benevolence in remembering the needy people.

She said it was an indication that they were embracing the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate and just caring nation.

She also urged the donors to continue with the spirit and extend the support to other communities who are in dire need.

Kgosi Setumo implored the beneficiaries to give the blankets with utmost care and that they should not be deceived by their children and give them away.

When receiving the blankets, Peleng Central ward councillor, Mr Mokganedi Monabana lauded World Group of Companies for their noble gesture.

He encouraged other companies and individuals to assist government in reaching out to different communities and close the existing gaps in missing services.

He said the donation came at the right time during the winter season and the blankets would help them to survive the cold.

He also urged them not to sell their blankets or exchange them for anything to suit their needs, but rather utilise them accordingly and handle them with care. ENDS
