Botswana’s flag was raised up high in Bulgaria on June 27 when three Batswana young girls scooped titles in Little Miss Princess of the World. The three young girls Tshephang Khan aged 14, Wedu Sebina aged 14 and Lekana Baipoledi aged 11 represented Botswana at the pageant.

Tshephang was crowned the Little Miss Princess of the World during the pageant competitions , beating 85 other young girls from around the world in the competition held from June 21 until 28.

The three young girls left the country on June 20 2016 with their director and also coach Tebogo Lebanna to go and represent Botswana in Europe.

Wedu came second followed by Russia in position three and four respectively while Philippines went for position five.

 Lebanna told BOPA in an interview that in the category of 11years competitions Lekana  settled for position three while Russia scooped first position and Czech Republic got position two.

 Lebanna said she had trust in the girls as they were ready and determined to bring the crown home. 

She said even though the preparations and the journey for the whole competition was not easy, that did not stop her to make sure the girls went and competed in the international stage to represent Botswana.

She noted that they started the competition well when they won first award of the pageant with Tshephang getting award of Favourite Person. 

She said that brought joy in their hearts as they continued to do well throughout the competition with the young girls impressing the judges with their confidence and presence on stage.

Lebanna noted that she was determined to lift Botswana’s flag and name high and bring back something to celebrate home as the country is celebrating 50 years of independence.

''I am happy Botswana was mentioned among other nations of the world and we did our best," she said.

They are expected to jet into the country this afternoon at 1pm.  back in the country today and Lebanna thanked all those who supported and encouraged them.

 She said she was glad to be the youngest director and judge and only black judge at the pageant in Bulgaria as that showed she was going somewhere in raising the young girls in the area of pageants and recognising young girls talents. Ends
