Students have been encouraged to study more practical subjects so that the country could have people who would generate wealth.
Chief education officer for the Southern region, Jwaneg/Mabutsane, Mr Abram Molelowamodimo said this when giving keynote address at the practical subjects fair in Kanye on June 26.
Mr Molelowamodimo said after completing practical subjects, students could diversify the economy, adding that many countries had benefited from practical subjects inventions.
He said the fair was meant to share knowledge and exchange ideas among students.
Practical subjects which were displayed were Art, Agriculture, Home Economics, Physical Education, Music and DNT.
He said teachers were working hard to help students excel in their hand work, adding that students who were optimistic could have skill and show talent that should be used to empower them.
The ministry, he said, was committed to provide an enabling environment for the youngsters to excel and also support youngsters’ minds that live in a constantly changing information, communication and technological world. He encouraged students to show commitment and passion to education to brighten their future, saying they should sacrifice to ensure that they get the best education, therefore they should not lose focus on their education.
