Sebina police station still in plan

28 Jun 2016

Member of Parliament for Shashe West, Mr Fidelis Molao, has informed residents of Sebina that the Sebina police station will be constructed in the 2018/2019 financial year.

The response followed concerns raised by residents during a kgotla meeting on June 24.

They said there had been reports that Marapong had been assured that their police station was going to be built.

And that, they said had left them wondering if it was not going to affect their police station more so that government decried shortage of funds across all ministries and having two stations built at close locations could be impossible.

Mr Molao, also education assistant minister, said nothing had changed regarding their police station.

Regarding other projects planned for Sebina, he said he could not divulge any information because the National Development Plan (NDP 11) had not yet been presented before Parliament.

Furthermore, Mr Molao informed residents that their clinic was going to be upgraded to a polyclinic through Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) and a house for the nurse also built in this financial year.

He nonetheless added that ESP was also going to run concurrently with NDP 11 and some projects that would not have been done this financial year shall be done next year at the start of NDP 11.

In addition, he pointed out that in NDP 10, there was a proposal for new sub districts and service centers and their village was among those to have sub-districts.

However, because of financial constraints resulting from economic downturn, the proposal was shelved with arrangements to make it a service centre.

On other issues, the residents proposed that government should consider turning their junior secondary school into a boarding facility since it catered for many villages and as such some students were forced to travel long distances to and from school.  Ends
