School situation nomalises

Kgari Sechele Senior School students on June 23 were tongue lashed by education officials and local authorities after they were sent packing for destroying property and threatening lives.
Speaker after speaker during last Thursday emergency meeting chastised students in front of their parents who came in large numbers , urging them to show commitment to their studies.
Learning was halted June 22 at Kgari Sechele senior secondary when a group of unruly students went on the rampage , destroying school and private property, and assaulting some staff members, the situation that led to the June 23 meeting.
The school head Mr Lapologang Kolagano explained that the students took to the bad behaviour after one of their own was punished for an earlier incident where two students got injured.
The incident he said ended with a teacher being injured while a form four student who tried to intervene got attacked and was currently recuperating at Scottish Livingstone Hospital after being stabbed with a sharp instrument suspected to be a knife.
Kweneng regional education director Mr Benson Rauwe ordered the school management and relevant authorities to expedite investigations about what could have led to students behavior, identify perpetrators and come up with a report that could guide on appropriate action.
Meanwhile the MP for Molepolole South Dr Tlamelo Mmatli condemned the behavior of the students on the day.
During the Tuesday’s visit to school Kweneng District Commissioner Dr Temba Mmusi assured teachers that all efforts will be made to protect them and property from any potential threat or abuse from students.
Meanwhile the Officer Commanding for Kweneng District Mr Kevin Mookodi has confirmed the arrest of nine students suspected to have played part in the alleged offences. Ends
