Tshireletso commends Electrical Distributors
26 Jun 2016
Assistant Minister of Local government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has commended Electrical Distributors Company for donating 45 blankets.
Speaking at the donation ceremony in Gaborone recently, Ms Tshireletso highlighted that since Botswana was approaching the end of Vision 2016, it had become imperative for government, private sector and the civil society to pull together towards the vision’s ideals and targets.
Thus, she applauded Electrical Distributors for extending a hand of compassion to contribute towards realisation of the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation through donation of blankets, which she said would benefit those in remote areas.
“I therefore commend you for the generous move that will definitely make a great difference in the lives of our fellow countrymen,” she said.
Also, the assistant minister noted that government alone cannot manage to develop and implement social uplifting programmes, hence the need for support and backing by the private sector.
She thus highlighted the ministry’s endeavour to continue establishing partnerships with the private sector so as to meet the needs of communities.
Further, she indicated that thorough assessment would be done to ensure that the blankets go to the most deserving people who would in turn be urged to take utmost care of them.
In his remarks, Electrical Distributors managing director, Mr Dinesh Mathias expressed gratitude for donating blankets to the ministry as a way of helping the needy.
Mr Mathias said since the company was established in 1983, it had grown along with Botswana, and thus found it worth to better lives of Batswana by sharing the little they had with the less privileged. Ends
