SADC double troika summit Tuesday

Botswana will host an Extraordinary Double Troika Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government in Gaborone on Tuesday  (June 28).

A news release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation states that the summit is expected to consider the political and security situation in the region, particularly in Lesotho and the implementation of the decisions of the Double Troika Summit that was held on January 18 in Gaborone.

The Double Troika comprises Heads of State and Government from Botswana (chair of SADC), Swaziland (deputy chair of SADC), Zimbabwe (outgoing chair of SADC), Mozambique (chair of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation), Tanzania (deputy chair of the Organ), and South Africa (outgoing chair of the organ).

The Summit will be preceded by meetings of senior officials and ministers starting Monday (June 27). Ends
