The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has said her ministry was currently undertaking a restructuring exercise.

Ms Tshireletso said this at the ongoing 5^th meeting of the 3^rd Ntlo ya Dikgosi..

“The Department of Tribal Administration and all other ministry institutions will be considered during the exercise and the structural gaps identified will be closed in liaison with other higher authorities and stakeholders.

Ms Tshireletso was responding to a Ntlo ya Dikgosi motion in which Kgosi Galeakanye Modise of Tswapong Region had  requested the minister to restructure the department of Tribal Administration and move it to the Office of the President.  

While presenting and expounding on the motion, Kgosi Modise appealed to  the House to support his motion, based on the fact that the Department of Tribal Administration was one of the department which “has built this country” adding that it was clear that MLDRG was not able to satisfy all the needs and challenges faced by the department.

In her response, Ms Tshireletso said previously there was a similar motion which was raised about challenges faced by the department of which a committee was set up to address such issues.

She requested  the House to consider deferring the motion and wait for the response and recommendations from the previous motion which sought to holistically address challenges faced by the Dikgosi and the Department of Tribal Administration.

The House was of the view that as the motion was about moving the Tribal Administration from MLDRG to the Office of the President the motion should be deferred to allow for more consultation.Ends
