Khama meets Chowdhury
23 Jun 2016
The new Bangladesh High Commissioner presented letters of credence to President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama in Gaborone on June 23.
In an interview after presenting the credentials, Mr Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury said his country and Botswana could cooperate in skills exchange.
The high commissioner said Botswana and Bangladesh could also explore possibilities of cooperation in agriculture because his country was endowed with agricultural skills.
Mr Chowdhury said Bangladesh was working with some African countries, which had fertile land and not enough people to cultivate.
He said his country was in contract with Sierra Leone for Bangladeshis to cultivate such land for a certain number of years and the two countries shared the agricultural proceeds, something which could be tried with Botswana as well.
He stated that political cooperation between Botswana and Bangladesh was good and that he was exploring bilateral cooperation in areas of trade to benefit citizens of both countries.
High Commissioner Chowdhury will be based in South Africa. ENDS
