Morupule Coal Mine holds first aid competions

Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) held internal first aid competitions in preparation for the upcoming inter-mine competitions billed for Orapa this year.
Team Maphosa from the Mining section won this year’s internal first Aid Competitions beating Isang and Bailey teams which scooped second and third positions respectively.
Speaking during the MCM internal first aid competitions in Palapye over the weekend, Palapye hospital acting chief medical officer Dr Kipanzula Monga said first aid was an important component not only to the mining sector but also at home because many accidents happened when they were least expected.
He said first aid may save lives, prevent worsening of conditions and promote recovery.
He commended the Botswana Chamber of Mines for coming up with first aid competitions as it promoted excellence amongst first aid providers in the mining sector.
Dr Monga also commended Team Maphosa for having scooped the first position in the internal competition, adding that they should bring the trophy to MCM during the upcoming Inter-mine first aid competitions.
Team Maphosa led by Captain Baboletse Pono scored many points in the simulation test, where they were to apply first aid in a scenario in which two technicians incurred an accident whilst recharging depressurised fire extinguishers in an enclosed workshop which exploded and injured them.
looked the aspect of neatness and lost marks saying neatness was critical when applying first aid.
