Township Rollers will seek a refund for expenses the club incurred when preparing for the failed beMOBILE Premiership playoff against Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
In an interview after the match was hastily called offlast week, Rollers public relations officer, Bafana Pheto stated that the Gaborone west club was baffled by the latest development.
The match was expected to determine champion of the 2015/16 beMOBILE Premiership season after a long drawn out dispute over the status of Rollers midfielder Ofentse Nato.
“It is frustrating, but there is nothing we can do. We don’t know what is going on. But somebody has to foot the bill for the expenses we incurred preparing for this match,” Pheto said.
He stated that they would write a letter to Botswana Football Association (BFA) demanding compensation.
The expenses the public relations officer was referring to include accommodation at Masa Centre in the Gaborone Central Business District, buying a flight ticket from England for head-coach, Mark Harrison and catering for players during the week leading up to the match.
Furthermore, Pheto said Rollers rented the ground at Lekidi Football Centre for training ahead of the playoff. “These are huge expenses.
We are going to reconcile all receipts of the money we spent and forward the bill to BFA. The association will see how we are refunded that money,” he said.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs public relations officer, Clifford Mogomotsi said the Kgatleng giants also incurred high costs preparing for the match.
He said the team management would decide whether to demand compensation. ENDS
