School welcomes ESP

Denjebuya Junior Secondary School in Tutume has welcomed Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) with promise that they too will in return produce outstanding results which will surpass the national target.
Fully of praise at the launch of ESP project in the school for construction of 16 teachers quarters on Wednesday, the school head Ms Dineo Gabete commended government for making them one of the beneficiaries of ESP.
She noted that they were fortunate in that for the past three years since 2013 their school had been refurbished and now they were also to receive new staff houses.
The refurbished structures include the old teachers’ houses, classrooms, kitchen and they are to receive a new one in addition and a school garden as well as improved storm water drainage. This she said had raised their morale as well as improving their welfare as the teaching staff.
She said they now had to reciprocate by producing best results at the end of each final examination.
Ms Gabete added that the teaching staff number stod at 85 and they had been sharing the 32 houses, four of which have been in a bad state . An addition of 16 new houses is going to improve the accommodation situation although they will still not be enough. “When ESP is celebrated, we will be among the beneficiaries that will blow our triumphant very loud,” she said.
Meanwhile speaking during the launch, the Assistant Minster of Education and Skills Development Mr Fidelis Molao said government efforts should be commended because it was not easy to get funds enough to cover many areas that needed to be attended to.
“And it is as such important to applaud government for making end meet to address serious concerns that have lasting impact as in the ministry of education,” he said.
Mr Molao highlighted that it had been years that institutions had not received any cyclic maintenance hence leading to many structures in bad state.
Thus at the time government initiated ESP, their ministry received a larger share to do works that will improve facilities and expectation is with improved facilities and accommodation crisis, teachers as well will be up to task and improve their performance.
He pointed out that schools across the country in particular junior secondary schools had been performing badly and such results called for action from all stakeholders and come up with solutions to address the poor performance by schools.
The Denjebuya project is done concurrently with Moses Mengwe junior secondary school construction of 20 houses at the cost of P36.6 million. ENDS
