Dibotso ekes out living from laundry

Most people prefer to wash their clothes on weekends or at least hire some people to do their laundry.
It is rare in a village to take clothes to a commercial laundry as people are mostly used to hand washing rather than engaging laundry services.
However, Ms Kefilwe Dibotso of Rungwana kgotla in Moshupa has found a niche in laundry services and every Thursdays she goes around the village collecting dirty clothes from her customers’ homes to wash and iron them at her laundry business.
The idea of venturing into laundry service business came into Ms Dibotso’s mind after working in a dry cleaning industry for 15 years.
She said in an interview that she decided to open: Clap Your Hands Laundry Services with the money she saved in 2012 and since then she never looked back.
She said she learnt every aspect and angle of dry cleaning services though she did not go to school for it, adding she is blessed with an assortment of hands on experience.
“I have also worked as a housekeeper after completing my Junior Certificate, so I can say I have learnt so much about hygiene and I have a passion for cleaning and I found it best to make a living out of something I am good at,” she said.
Ms Dibotso said her priority was customer satisfaction as that could attract more clients. She achieves this by trying to avoid mistakes such as mixing up customer clothes, slitting them or distorting their colour and appealed to those who have no time to do their own laundry to make use of her laundry services.
She said she treats challenges as a learning curve therefore she turns them into opportunities to grow her business.
Ms Dibotso planned to apply for more funding from government so that she can buy industrial equipment for mass service provision. ENDS
