Morupule mine builds classroom

Assistant minister for Presidential affairs and Public Administration, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele,  has  commended Morupule Coal Mine for investing  P1.3 million on construction of a special unit  at Ratsie Setlhako Primary School in Palapye.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony for the project recently,  Mr Makgalemele said the unit was a huge investment.

 Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya   commended the mine for helping government accomplish its commitment to teach every Motswana as documented in the education policy.

Morupule Coal Mine general manager, Mr David Kgoboko, said the project confirmed their commitment to education.

Through this project, he said, they showed that they were a committed partner in the development of the communities within which they operated.

Funding of the project, Mr Kgoboko said,  was  a partnership  between them and parent  company; Debswana.

 He said it was worth noting that over the years, they had contributed immensely to the communities and would always make efforts to spread the benefit evenly.

Mr Kgoboko said their commitment towards uplifting the lives of Batswana would create a legacy of prosperity, sustainability and empowerment.

For her part, head of department for people leaving with disability, Ms Babilili Letebele said lack of proper education facilities in their school robbed the students with special need proper education.

Ms Letebele said students with special needs should have a special class room that suite their special needs.

In her remarks, the school head, Ms Rebaone Maseba  said they had a special class for  pupils with intellectual  disability.

Ms Maseba explained that at the age of 19-20 years, such students should leave the school so that they could be exposed to challenges of life. ENDS
