Khama promises feedback

12 Jun 2016

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has promised to give Mmatsetla residents feedback on issues of water shortage and the status of their chief.

He said this at Mmatsetla kgotla where he dined with residents.

The President also donated blankets to the elderly, sweets to the children, 10 bibles and 30 chairs to the kgotla.

Kgosi Mr Michael Molefhe of Kopong had earlier informed the President that water reticulation in the village was a challenge because of the size of the water reservoir, adding that due to population growth, the demand had increased.

The point was buttressed by VDC representative who said only homesteads along the tarred road were connected to the water lines.

He also called for the village headman of arbitration to be upgraded to headman of records in order to enable him keep up with the ever increasing trends of demands from residents.

He said residents were passionate about bringing development to their village and as such a kgosi with powers to preside over village matters was ideal if developments were to be realised.

The area MP, who is also investment and trade minister, Mr Vincent Seretse commended the President for invigorating the spirit of giving among Batswana and restoring dignity to the less privileged members of the society.

He said many people had experienced improvement in the lives. ENDS
