As society’s greatest desire is to see other community members living happy lives, Barolong cluster, made up of 56 schools in the Good Hope Sub District Council, extended a helping hand to a 11-year-young boy confined in a wheel chair.
The cluster donated a wooden bed worth P4 700, bedding and clothing and built a wheel chair ramp.
In an interview with the project coordinator from Iphutheng Junior Secondary School, Mr Dimpho Moremi, said since the inception of teachers day they do community outreach programmes to donate to any identified needy person in the host locality to uplift their lives.
He said they managed to raise P7 100 after each teacher pledged P10 to purchase the aforementioned items and to build the wheel chair ramp for Phatsimo Ketshabile.
The wheel chair ramp, he said, was constructed to assist Ketshabile to easily move in and out of the house by his caretakers.
Furthermore, Mr Moremi said they would connect water to Ketshabile’s homestead. In her acceptance speech, Ketshabile’s aunt, Ms Siamisang Thomas thanked the Good Hope Sub district teachers for their benevolence.
She said they have brought joy to their family and urged them to continue to reach other less privileged people in the district for them to live dignified lives as well.
Giving a vote of thanks, the Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Motsamai Kegapilwe lauded teachers for their compassion and reaching out to the less privileged in their area. He said it was the first project of that magnitude in their village, and implored them to better the lives of the less privileged. ENDS
