Placement of interns re-starts
08 Jun 2016
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture (MYSC) says placement of interns has been re-opened .
This came about after some participants exited the programme for various reasons such as employment, further studies or graduation having served the standard two years term.
A press release from MYSC says placement of interns will resume immediately and graduates on the waiting list will be placed according to set criteria.
It further says placement of interns in the private sector will be discontinued with immediate effect, therefore restricting it to the public sector, parastatals and NGO’s.
“The ministry is ready to receive requests from the departments, however those interns currently serving in the private sector will be allowed to see out the entire duration of their term,” says the release.
It says that the private sector is encouraged to employ graduates on a full time basis or take them as apprentices. ENDS
