Makgato attends HIVAIDS meeting in US

Minister of Health, Ms Dorcas Makgato, left for New York on Monday to attend the United Nations General Assembly High Level Meeting on Ending HIV/AIDS.
The June 7-11 meeting would focus on the importance of fast-track approach to the AIDS response over the next five years.
A press release from the Ministry of Health states that countries are at a point where they acknowledge collective collaboration as a means of ending AIDS epidemic as a public health by 2030.
The release states that the meeting will also build on the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS of 2001 and the Political Declaration on HIVAIDS adopted by the High Level meetings of the General Assembly (2006 and 2011).
According to the release, Ms Makgato will after the meeting proceed to Boston to participate in the Harvard Health Leaders’ Ministerial Forum and the High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS from June 12-17.
The forum will focus on four principal areas being leadership, effectiveness, priority setting, health, resource utilisation policy implementation and focusing on strengthening sustainable health systems in the country. ENDS
