Kgale Farms councillor, Mr Andrew Mabeo is the new South East District Council (SEDC) vice chairperson.The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) councillor stood unopposed to replace the late vice chairperson, Mr Molemi Rakgomo who died in April.

In his acceptance speech, councillor Mabeo promised to work hard for the development and bringing services to the residents of the district.He said there was need for the council to work as a united force to drive its mandate of bringing services to the people of the district. 

Councillor Mabeo also asked bogosi, fellow councillors and public officers to be there to guide and advise the council leadership, adding that no one is living a perfect life.

He further thanked fellow councillors across the political parties for having trusted him to be part of the council leadership.For his part, SEDC chairperson Mr Phenyo Segokgo welcomed his new deputy and promised to work with him.

He said the new vice filed a void that had been left by ‘a highly committed individual’ and called on Mr Mabeo to emulate the spirit of the deceased vice chairperson of working tirelessly for the development of the district.

On other issues, Mr Segokgo said the council has resolved to form a company which will be its investment arm.In addition, he said the council has also launched the Chairman’s Trust Fund which will be dealing with the corporate social responsibility.

 “We need to put our heads together to transform this district and its residents to raise the standard of living, “he added. ENDS
