Chairperson underscores need for collaboration

Ngwato Land Board chairperson, Mr David Modisagape, has implored sub-land boards in Central District to collaborate with other stakeholders to strategise.Speaking at Ngwato Land Board leadership forum in Francistown on Thursday, Mr Modisagape said every sub-land board should identify land banks to facilitate economic development to the public.
He said the land policy had been approved, however he urged the staff to develop land information system and identify the issue of legal concern among the departments.
He encouraged the sub land boards to monitor the land and take action against the squatters without fear or favor.Mr Modisagape said employees should think about how their actions could affect the national outcomes, noting that the forum is very important because they need to customize the resolutions of those at main land board.
Furthermore he urged them to align with government priority areas of land and housing ownership, Economic Stimulus Prorgamme, Private Partnership Programme and employment creation.
Mr Modisagape noted that their expectations will further develop a range of leadership skills, abilities such as efficiency leading change, resolving conflicts, motivating others through consensus building, collaboration, and coalition as community members and accountability on their individual role.
He highlighted that they need an accountable, bold leaders who can inspire and galvanize others actions and also to ensure that they work hard and put into practice what they have set out to achieve their main goal.Furthermore he said through that workshop he is confident that they will merge a comprehensive knowledge and skills in their area of leadership and governance.
He said leadership therefore entails some degree of control while governance entails the establishment of policies and continuous monitoring of their proper implementation by the members of their governing body of an organisation.
For her part, Central District commissioner, Ms Thobo Letlhage said land boards should collaborate with other stakeholders so that they could monitor the land after allocations.Ms Letlhage said they needed to monitor if those pieces of land were utilised for the purpose they were allocated for because lack of process monitoring leads to poor land use.
She said sub-land boards should also engage dikgosi, and village development committee to address the issue of lack of inadequate management. ENDS
