The mayor of Francistown, Sylvia Muzila, has commended Lesego Machacha (34) for playing a role in efforts to encourage youth to make informed decisions and refrain from undesirable practices.

Muzila was speaking during launch of Machacha’s book entitled Discover your Purpose and Reconnect Yourself on Saturday.

She said the book was an encouragement to youth and it would help them have a self-introspection concerning their patterns of behaviour. 

“We are now living in a period where youth are faced with challenges of poverty, illness, drug abuse and other social ills that need to be addressed amicably. Therefore this book is one of the means to encourage youth to take up the responsibilities of their own lives and make informed decisions,” she said.

Muzila said it took a certain degree of persistence and determination for youth to write and publish a book of such note.

Machacha said his book was published late last year and he was still faced up with challenges to fully distribute it.

He noted that the book was published by Educational Study Aid, a publishing company based in Francistown and it would  help youth not to indulge in undesirable practices.

Furthermore, he said, as the youth grow up, some find themselves trapped in a situation of failure to design their own path, which they could live up to and others had dreams and fail to fulfill them.

 “When I grew up, I always indulged in bad practices. I thought it was a good idea and only to realise that I was pushing my future down the drain. 

Therefore with this book, I wish to encourage some of the youth to be responsible and disconnect themselves from bad influences,” he said.

He also said the book illustrated on aspects of being courageous, interdependent and determination.

Machacha shared that being unruly nearly cost him his life, however he said he turned repented and was born again. 

A staunch member of Breath of Life Ministries, he said everyone was born for a purpose and they should strive for success in everything they do, no matter what life throws at them. ENDS
