Marina to conduct facial surgeries

Princess Marina Hospital will conduct at least 30 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical procedures from June 13 to June 17 this year.
A press release from the hospital states that the procedures will be conducted in conjunction with Maxillofacial & Facial Plastic Surgeons from Addenbrookes Hospital in the United Kingdom which is the main teaching hospital for the University of Cambridge.
The release states that the procedures will include maxillofacial reconstructive surgery (maxillary and mandibular jaw bone reconstructions), Cleft Lip/Palate repairs, Parotid Gland surgeries, Facial bone Fracture repairs, Jaw bone Tumor resections, Facial Scar revisions and many other conditions in the oral, maxillofacial and cranial regions.
It further states that the team comprises of three surgeons from Addenbrookes hospital who will be accompanied by surgeons from Princess Marina Hospital and in excess of at least 34 dental, nursing, radiology and allied health specialists from various Princess Marina Hospital departments.
The release also states that Cambridge University hospitals, in this case Addenbrookes Hospital, have an established relationship with the Ministry of Health in Botswana since 2007 when a multidisciplinary partnership was made.
So far, over 200 patients have gone through surgery for the above mentioned procedures as the team had visited the country once a year, states the release. Ends
