Libraries key to information literacy
02 Jun 2016
African library project coordinator for Botswana, Ms Olga Tsimanyane, says library facilities are critical in improving performance in schools.
Speaking during a library workshop held by African Library Project in collaboration with Debswana government development programme, Ms Tsimanyane said establishing libraries in primary schools played a pivotal role in enhancing the learning environment.
She said students needed to enhance their research capabilities at a tender age through utilising libraries, which were points of reference in many respects.
Ms Tsimanyane explained that providing resource libraries and making them accessible would help to stimulate their grasp in language and literature prose as well as capacitating them to make informed choices.
She encouraged parents to play a leading role in ensuring that their children get the best education. Ends
