Chairperson calls for close monitoring of ESP projects

Chairperson of Palapye Sub-council, Mr Lesedi Phuthego, has called for close monitoring and supervision of projects under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).
Addressing Palapye Administration Authority councillors during the ongoing sub-council meeting on May 30, Mr Phuthego said councillors should join hands with their village development committees to ensure supervision of projects undertaken through ESP.
He said ESP projects had started in many villages within Palapye Administrative Authority therefore it was upon the councillors to ensure that the projects were delivered on time and on budget.
Mr Phuthego further urged councillors to be hands on in preparation for the national Independence Day celebration billed for September 30.
He said this year’s Independence Day events should be different as the country would be celebrating the 50th anniversary, adding that this year’s Independence Day should be a memorable one.
He thanked councilors for the success of the roving torch activities that took place in the sub district in April saying that councilors did a good job by being part of the preparations.
He said all the activities that took place in various villages were well prepared.
He also thanked the office of the district commissioner and public employees for the success of the roving torch activities.
He said the torch did not only unite the villages within Palapye Administrative Authority but also brought some insight into the history of various villages.
On other issues Mr Phuthego called for enhanced team work between the political and administrative wings. Ends
