Kanye readies for celebrations
31 May 2016
Preparations for independence celebrations have started in earnest in Kanye.
Kanye Administration Authority (KAA) chairperson, Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela, said as part of the countdown activities, KAA had planned to celebrate the vision pillars in all its villages.
The first pillar; an educated and informednation, was celebrated in Moshana while pillar two, a prosperous, productive and innovative nation’s celebration would be next month led by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Mr Dibeela was officially opening KAA full sub-council meeting that started on May 30.
He said officers were in place to liaise with other villages to get preparations done. He said even though the budget was not available, they would not be deterred from celebrating their achievement as a district.
The chairperson said this year Public Service Day was celebrated to recognise efforts made by the public servants.
He applauded those who participated in the Southern team for a job well done and encouraged those who did well to perform even better at the National Public Service Celebrations to be held next month.
Concerning Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) launch, he said minimal land servicing was launched at Mheelo ward while turnkey houses were to be constructed in Kanye.
He said the council continued to promote local empowerment by awarding tenders within KAA jurisdiction.
The Chairperson urged other government departments to take the ESP opportunity to support local by buying from them as well as paying for their services on time to make sure that they do not experience cash flow problems.
He said the council was still lagging behind in the operationalisation of two service centres, which are Molapowabojang and Gasita.
Mr Dibeela said that the service centres were not only meant for council departments, but for all government offices to provide service at a one stop shop. Ends
