Church builds nation

30 May 2016

The church plays a pivotal role in nation building and the well-being of the country.

Speaking during a church service at St John Apostolic Faith Mission in Mochudi on May 29, Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi said the country was what it was today because of the prayers of the church.

He said the church prayed for peace and stability and that was why Botswana continued to enjoy peace and would be celebrating 50 years anniversary of independence as a unified nation with undisturbed peace.

The Vice President said the successes of every country were the blessings of God which the church prayed for.

Mr Masisi said St John Apostolic Faith Mission was there when Botswana gained independence and the members played their trumpets ushering in a new leaf for the country.

He said the constitution of the country relied on faith and gave people freedom to worship God.

He asked the church to continue praying for the nation and its successes and for all to serve the nation whole heartedly.

The Vice President further said the prayers would help stop all the evil in the country and turn the hearts of criminals to God.

Mr Masisi promised that government would continue to support the church, saying even President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama supported the church.

The Vice President donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction of the church premises.

For his part, Bishop Frank Kganane of St John Apostolic Faith Mission said the church service was to thank God for all he had done for them.

In his preaching, he quoted from the Book of Deuteronomy 28:1-14, which talks about diligently listening to the voice of God and the blessings that come with it.He called on all Christians to take the word of God to heart and do what it commanded. Ends
