Marketing manager for Vivo Energy in Botswana, Ms Naledi Wagamang says sacrifice, discipline and hardwork are the ingredients that boosted Mannathoko JSS to emerge victoriously in last year’s JC examinations.

She said this during the school’s victory party in Serowe on May 27.

The guest speaker said history was made when the school attained position six country wide, fourth position in Central District and position one in Serowe sub region.

Ms Wagamang said the good results indicate the commitment of both the school management and their students.

Wagamang said although the school’s target was 65 per cent they went an extra mile of including 2.7 per cent to make it 67per cent pass. She said it is evident that the school is determined to set themselves apart and said the theme of the day, The Race for Excellence has no Finish Line is Significant.”

“The theme calls for all stakeholders to take education seriously and never settle for less than best results,” Ms Wagamang emphasised.

She said this is a priority area that needs collective efforts in the quest for national developments and economic prosperity.

The guest speaker further encouraged parents, staff members, the business community, teachers and students to contribute towards the national pillar of attaining an educated and informed nation.

She also applauded those who contributed to the realisation of these good results.

“They have worked endlessly, denying themselves momentary pleasures in order to safe guard long lasting benefits. I also encourage former students that learning is a journey towards their development and growth into responsible individuals, you should retain that spirit,” she said.

Ms Wagamang further urged current Form IIIs and other students to be motivated by the celebration and to ensure that they maintain the same winning feat.

Last year’s overall performer, Mphoentle Bele told BOPA in an interview that she worked hard with the support of her teacher and other students by forming study groups.

She expressed her gratitude to her former teacher Ms Mildred Molefhi who introduced tutorial programme at the school which left her no choice but to quit few things such as sports and pleasure to up her game. Ends
