Graduates can change lives
29 May 2016
Chairperson of Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC), Mr Solly Reikeletseng, has implored Botho University graduates to help transform the country.
Speaking at Botho University Francistown Campus graduation on May 27, Mr Reikeletseng urged the students to get out of the comfort zone and become adventurous.
He said said there were no opportunities out there waiting for them but they should create them, observe and get into their feet to conquer the world.
He encouraged them never to think that any roles they played were not important, adding that they should never believe in the myth and misconceptions of witchcraft.
In her welcoming remarks, pro-vice chancellor, Ms Priyan Iyer, said it was a fact that not all of them were going to find jobs in Botswana, hence she urged them to look beyond their borders.
She said the university educated them to become global graduates with skills to deal with complexity and change.
Ms Iyer said the continent of Africa was a giant that is only now awakening and the future of the world is right in Africa.
She said as they venture out, they may find there are very few ready-made opportunities falling into their lap and they will need to increase their awareness to be able to identify unique opportunities they can use to craft their own future.
Ms Iyer urged them to see the bigger picture so they can also carve out a bigger career for themselves by showing good intentions to those around them. Ends
