Upcoming kwaito artist, Monametsi Thupane, also known as Mdizo is adamant that he will take the music industry by storm through his newly released single: Praise.

The 27-year-old, who hails from Lobatse, said in an interview that kwaito remained popular and was showing signs of growth.

“I have explored different genres of music such as hip hop and house and incorporated them in my track,” he said.

He said the single track was inspired by the fact that God glorified himself upon all the situations that he went through, which he was able to overcome.

“The song emphasises all the obstacles that I was able to overcome and it is a way of praising and uplifting the name of God. The beats run between hip-hop and RnB, without losing the traditional Kwaito vibe, with the English lyrics to suit the international standards,” he expressed.

Mdizo said he was determined to be on the music industry to grow and bring new ideas that can guide and give music a direction.

“I am determined to make sure that kwaito maintains its rightful place in the African music history and I am encouraged in this artwork to pursue greater levels,” he says.

He believes that he was joining the music industry at the right time thereby giving him an opportunity to change people’s mentality in terms of how they viewed the kwaito.

Mdizo has played alongside international acts such as Hip Hop Pantsula and Malaika as well as Vee and Scar. ENDS
