With Botswana set to celebrate 50 years of independence and fans of WesBank International Airshow already looking forward to the tricks and fanfare of the show scheduled for May 28, at Matsieng Aerodrome in Rasesa, the seven days left seem to drag on forever.

Dubbed as Africa’s biggest air show, Botswana’s skies are set to be decorated with a plethora of aircraft engine smoke streams and cheers from crowds as 2016 boasts a stellar line-up.

With at least 31 aerial displays and counting scheduled, final touches are underway for the event.

“This is one of Botswana’s most anticipated annual events without a doubt because of its fantastic line-up of aircrafts and stunts for the adrenaline junkie and fun lover.

“In its three years, the WesBank International Airshow has proven to be a hot pot of amazing sportsmanship, opportunities for attendees to make business connections and a great time for friends and family,” said WesBank director, Justine Basiami.

“Aeronautical enthusiasts, families, sports lovers and many other common groups living in Botswana and from beyond her borders stand to be thrilled. This year’s featured aircrafts will be from world renowned international brands including Mustang, Trojan, Good Year and more.

Also lined up for the day will include parachute drops and helicopter performances,” she continued.

The Airshow is organised by the Matsieng Trust and sponsored by WesBank Botswana, a division of First National Bank of Botswana.

She indicated that some of the proceeds from the WesBank Botswana International Airshow through the Matsieng Trust will be donated to four charity organisations namely Lady Khama Charitable Trust, Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation, Motswedi Rehabilitation Centre and Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind.

“What is also great about the WesBank International Airshow is that it provides Botswana with opportunities for regional engagement since spectators and participants reside here at home and from our neighbouring nations.

Closer to our hearts is the fact that our contribution goes towards charities who are committed to the business of changing lives for the better every day,” concluded Basiami.

WesBank Botswana is a leading financier for vehicle and asserts including aircrafts, passenger and commercial vehicles, plant and machinery, agriculture equipment, boats, motorbikes and earth moving equipment. ENDS
