DPSM needs to transform

The Directorate of Public Service Management (DCEC) director, Ms Ruth Maphorisa, says though the organisation has necessary legislation and policies, it needs to transform its way of doing things.

Speaking when she appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday, Ms Maphorisa said there was need to manage the human resource.

She said Botswana was living in an IT world and therefore there was need to change with the times.

She said they should have a consolidated system to assist in human resources to keep track with happenings in the world.On other issues, Ms Maphorisa stated that vacancy rate stood at 7.4 per cent.

She also pointed out that there were no ghost employees as was in the past.She said the new system of Oracle would not allow ghost employees.

Ms Maphorisa also stated that there were critical issues dealing with employment relations and their relationship with the unions.She pointed out that she hoped that the issues would be resolved amicably.

About the 98 appeals DPSM had received, Ms Maphorisa pointed out that they managed to resolve 30 and 68 were not yet attended to. ENDS
