Bobonong Home Based Care Trust expands programming

Bobonong Community Home Based Care Trust (BCHBCT) has started expanding its programming to focus on the welfare of orphan and vulnerable children in Bobonong and catchment areas.

Speaking in an interview, local government capacity builder who is also a peace corp, Ms Hailey Stout, said the organisation had started construction of orphan and vulnerable children centre.

Ms Stout said the objective behind the construction was to provide support to terminal ill clients as well as offer free psychological support to the infected and affected community memebers.

She said children were the most important aspects of the project, adding that the centre would be open for children to come for tutoring and social activities in the evenings and on weekends.

“The organisation is also making money through sponsors and donations,” she said.

Moreover, she stated that the organisation had received funding from the European Union (EU), under the empowerment of non-state actors programme and the organisation had to contribute a total of 10 per cent to the project.

 She said the organisation was due to be completed this year.For his part, the owner of Bruno and Friends Company, Mr Brian Puso said they started construction of the centre on April 4.

He said the centre which was supposed to cost P140 000 consisted a reception area, conference room, storeroom, bathrooms, two offices, kitchen and an outdoor area for recreational activities. ENDS
