Bomme Ba Thapelo donates to SOS

Bomme Ba Thapelo, a woman’s forum from five churches in Broadhust has donated blankets, clothes and toiletry worth about P100 000 to SOS children in Tlokweng.

Bomme Ba Thapelo is made of United Congregational Church of Southern Africa, Anglican Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Botswana, Spiritual Healing Church and Methodist.

Bomme Ba Thapelo chairperson Ms Josephine Chana said recently that they started to come together as various churches in 2009 to deal with common challenges.

She said it was in the process that the idea of assisting SOS was conceived and added that each church was given a list of children to provide for.

However, she said all churches in Broadhust were initially invited to be part of Bomme Ba Thapelo but only five churches showed commitment to the initiative.

While Spiritual Healing Church Mothers Union president, Ms Tiny Motswasele said the donation is inspired by the country’s Vision 2016 pillar of being a compassionate and caring nation.

She said as women from various churches, they wanted to play their part in showing love, care and compassion for the SOS children.Ms Motswasele said SOS children have been deprived of motherly love due to their circumstances.

In addition, Ms Motswasele said giving to the needy is part of their assignment as Christians and added that God has given the haves to care for the have not.

SOS Family Based Care manager, Ms Clarah Fulele said SOS villages in Tlokweng, Serowe and Francistown take care of close to 2 000 children.

She said the children are cared through family based care programme for those staying in the centres and family strengthening programme for those under outreach programme. ends
