Youth choir donates to less privileged

Gaborone -based youth choir, Gaborone Philhamonic Voices has donated full school uniforms to 12 underprivileged students of Gaborone West Secondary School.
Speaking in an interview, choir director Mr Ditiro Tlale disclosed that the idea was their endeavour to ensure the realisation of the vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.’ The choir set down and suggested that we should come up with an idea to buy full school uniform and toiletry to the 12 identified students with the help of their guidance and counseling teacher, ” Mr Tlale added.
He said the gesture was also an appreciation to the school management for having offered the choir a classroom to conduct its practices. Mr Tlale explained that after raising funds, they approached the school, sold them the idea and agreed to buy the products.
The choir director said their vision was to make the donation an annual event.Apart from the school uniforms, the choir handed to the school washing powder and body lotions. The school head, Mr Godiraone Mathibe showered words of praise on the choir.
‘’This donation is a great relief as it will give the students a lifeline and self-respect,” he added. ends
