Embrace govt initiatives- Gobuamang

Kgosi Segale Gobuamang of Thamaga has appreciated government’s efforts to help farmers better their yields.
Speaking during letlhafula celebration at Kubung near Thamaga, Kgosi Gobuamang urged farmers to embrace government initiatives.
He commended agricultural demonstrators for encouraging and guiding farmers.
Kgosi Gobuamang urged farmers not to give up, despite weather challenges caused by global warming.
Kubung residents were celebrating their first letlhafula event.Attendants were treated to a variety of exotic snacks from dithotse, maize cobs and makgomane.
Alongside traditional cuisine, an assortment of cultural entertainment was offered from poetry, polka and traditional dance.
One of the proceedings which took place was the handing of dikgafela to Kubung chief, Kgosi Boitshwarelo Mabutlwane.
For her part, agronomist for Kweneng south sub-district Ms Zibanani Motshabi urged residents to take their farming seriously in order to reap good harvest.
She advised them to always do soil tests on their ploughing fields to be able to know how to best to treat or what kind of fertilisers to apply on the soil.
Ms Motshabi said weeding was important and failure to practice it might consume 10 per cent of the harvest.
She urged farmers to always follow proper channels and methods of disposing chemicals to ensure safety of the people, environment and animals.
