Masunga to host Public Serice Day inter-district competitions
15 May 2016
Masunga is set to host this year’s Public Service Day (PSD) inter-district competitions from May 18-19.
A press release from Public Service Day committee states that public officers from all districts will converge in Masunga to battle it out in inter-district competitions, which will feature a number of activities including Mr and Miss Public Service, football, netball, choral music, poetry and dance.
The release says post Masunga, the top three will then head to Gaborone for the main Public Service Day finals next month to be held over a period of week to celebrate all public officers, present and past. Activities, it says, are all part of the annual PSD commemorations to recognise the role of public officers on the growth of the country’s socio-economic development. Furthermore, it says this year’s festivities will be celebrated under the theme: Fifty Years of Service to the Nation. United and Proud, in line with the national golden jubilee theme: Fifty years of Independence. United and Proud.”
It is also expected that hundreds of public officers who will attend the event will also contribute significantly to tourism growth in the northern part of the country.
According to release, facilities in Francistown, Tonota, Masunga, Nata, Tati Siding and other nearby places are already fully booked mainly for the event, and thus pleasing because most of facilities are guest houses owned by citizens who will thus benefit economically from the PSD commemoration.
