Trade ministry staff donates to family

Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Sadique Kebonang, has applauded the ministry’s staff for going all out to assist the needy.
Speaking at a hand over ceremony of a toilet, washing bay and stand pipe for Ms Mmamanka Kgothang and her family in Mabule recently, Mr Kebonang said the officers’ donation showed their love and compassion.
The toilet, washing bay and stand pipe were donated by the Department of Industrial Affairs employees under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
The donation, Mr Kebonang said, was a sign that the officers were closer to God and also heeded the word of God, which stated that one could not love God when they did not love their brother.Mr Kebonang said government was not able to reach out to each and every individual, therefore assistance from other sectors was a welcome development.
Mr Kebonang also appreciated the companies that heeded the call of the employees by assisting and ensuring that the projects were completed.
He advised the Kgothang family to appreciate the gift.
For his part, the director of industrial affairs department, Mr Gideon Mmolawa, said they identified the Kgothang family through social workers and saw the need to build the washing bay, toilet and stand pipe for them.
Mr Mmolawa said as a single mother of 10 children being three males and seven females Ms Kgothang surely needed some kind of assistance to better her living standards.
He said officers contributed P5 000 from their pockets and with the help of various companies as well as the Barolong and Lobatse Vocational Centres built the P10 000 worth of project.
He indicated that though they built the washing bay, toilet and stand pipe, it was evident that the family needed more especially in terms of shelter.
He said he was hopeful that more works of assistance will spring up from the relevant people in assisting the family.
Kgosi Morota Tiro applauded the officials for assisting the needy in his village.
Kgosi Tiro said he was aware that officers faced challenges as the village had shortage of building sand and water to complete the projec.
Mr Kgothang did not have much to say, but to thank all who were instrumental in the donation.
Area councillor Mr Moses Semang also thanked those who were instrumental in the project and those who graced the hand over ceremony. ENDS
