FNBB Foundations initiative welcome

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, has encouraged corporate entities to support the poverty eradication drive.Giving a keynote address at the launch of the First National Bank Botswana FNBB Foundation’s winter shoe drive donation Ms Tshireletso stressed the need for collective efforts to help the programme achieve its intended goals.

The shoe drive donation would benefit 3 742 school pupils in 12 primary schools across the country. The schools would include Struizendam, Loologane, Moralane, Qabo, Manaledi, Botshabelo, Robelela, Motopi, Sepako, Malatswai, Kgomodiatshaba and the event hosts Koontle Primary school.

“It is pleasing to see the initiative grow not only in structure but also in its scope as the foundation has worked tirelessly to expand the initiative to some of Botswana’s remote areas,” said Assistant Minister Tshireletso.She expressed happiness over the donation indicating that primary school going pupils in rural areas struggled during winter as they walked barefooted to school.

The drive, she said, was not only timely but it had a sustainable long term impact in communities.The FNBB member of trustee, Ms Regina Sikalesele-Vaka, stated that her bank was dedicated toward improving lives of individual children with needs through the bank’s arm of social responsibility of giving back to communities.
