Pensioners receive melons

 Ntlhantlhe pensioners were treated to a surprise donation of water melons by Mr Hiwa Moreki of Sebokwane lands on May 9.

A total of 250 watermelons, worth P7 500 was thus given to the senior citizens who had come to collect their monthly pension.

Each pensioner received and went home with two watermelons.

Mr Moreki said in an interview it was not the first time he donated to pensioners as he did the same feat last year. “I donated 150 kilogrammes of beans and felt I should extend the gesture once again this year and give back to the community especially the elderly,” he said. Mr Moreki gave credit to government sponsored Integrated Support for Arable Agricultural Development programme (ISPAAD) saying it helped him with his produce a great deal. 

He said he intended to sell the remaining melons at Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board .

One of the recipients of the watermelons, Mrs Amie Mothei who was visibly jubilant said that she was happy at the gesture by Mr Moreri gesture. 

Another beneficiary, Mr Kekgethile Phologolo, said that he wished the farmer a long life ahead as he helped the village pensioners. ENDS
