After many months of struggle to have the Monarch Customary Court offices shelter re-constructed, finally the construction will begin, thanks to a monetary donation of P113 000 made by the Ipelegeng Office of Francistown towards the community project.

This good news was revealed at a consultative meeting organised by the committee designated with handling the re-construction of the shelter project.

Presenting to the conveners of the meeting on May 10, the chairperson of the Leobo Reconstruction Committee, who is also the chairperson of the Monarch Ward Development Committees umbrella, Mr Eric Mabengano, stated that Ipelegeng office had made the said donation towards completion of the leobo structure.

“Other efforts to solicit for more funds lately have borne fruit as U-Build has also donated 10 bags of cement towards the leobo project. We are also making arrangements to host two music festivals to raise money for the construction of this leobo,” he noted.

The first festival, which will comprise mostly local artistes will be held on May 28^th this year at the Monarch Customary Court offices and  the second one will be held at the old Francistown Stadium on July 2,” Mr Mabengano said.

Furthermore, he said the leobo project’s bank balance as at 12 March to 13 April stood at more than P31 000.

Another committee member, Ms Keletso Dambe revealed that Bolux Group has offered to serve 40 VIP guests at the first music festival.

The company, she said, has given the six ward development committees to tender for the catering task for the 40 VIPs as it would pay for those that did the catering on the day.

The leobo was gutted by fire on the night of April 1 in 2015, and on April 7, a meeting was convened by Monarch Customary Court President, Kgosi Gunny Moses where a board committee was elected to oversee the fund raising initiative to rebuild the leobo structure. ENDS
