Molale applauds staff

The role of the public service is to deliver good governance necessary for national progress, the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration said this during the Ministry of State President Excellence Awards ceremony on May 9.
Minister Eric Molale said national service delivery required dedication for those entrusted with the responsibility as they were the engine that kept government programmes and policies rolling to the nation.
He honoured public officers who fall under various departments of the Office of the President for delivering good service which he said should serve as inspiration to others.
He noted that public service in this era was defined by critical issues such as strategic management and leadership development amongst other factors hence the need for all to be prepared to embrace positive change.
For her part, the ministry permanent secretary, Ms Kebonye Moepeng said their mandate was to safeguard and secure the nation’s progress through promotion of good governance while ensuring sustainable socio-economic growth and development for the benefit of all Batswana.
She added that progress had been made thus far hence the need to applaud those who had demonstrated diligence and commitment towards achievement of the mandate.
Ms Anastacia Sibanda who is a news reporter with the Department of Information Services was honored with the Minister’s Special Award for outstanding work in the field of sports writing.
She also won an award for exemplary employee. “I think I got the awards because I have passion for sports and I work hard, of course with the support of my colleagues.
They encourage me and believe in me. They constructively critisize and give credit where it is due. This is the reason why I go an extra mile,” said an elated Sibanda in an interview.
Office of the President executive leadership office manager Ms Mmapitso Monosi was honored as the longest serving employee having served for 41 years in the ministry.
“Looking back where Botswana comes from when I started the civil service and today, I feel honored that my contribution to this nation is recognised,”she said. ENDS
