PPADB reviews committees thresholds

05 May 2016

Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) has revised thresholds for Ministerial Tender Committees (MTCs) and District Administration Tender Committees (DATCs).

A press release from PPADB says the decision was taken at its sitting on April 28 and the new ceilings effected on May 1.

The release says the PPAD Act mandates the PPADB to review and increase appropriately financial ceilings for both MTCs and DATCs, in line with Section 65, sub section (1) and (2) of the revised PPAD Act of 2001.

Therefore, after carrying out comprehensive assessments of all MTCs, the release says PPADB was able to appreciate performance level and capacity of each committee.

The release says the board opted for non-uniform financial thresholds given that capacity, procurement requirements and performance across ministries are not the same, as was the case in 2014.

It further says discussions were also held with accounting officers to secure their continued support of the committees to enable them to deliver on their mandate.

It also says revised DATCS thresholds ceilings for the Administration of Justice Tender Committee, which is relatively new, as well as for the Palapye and Good Hope DATCs, where there is room for improvement in capacity and performance have not been increased.

Again, it says the board has also resolved to increase the micro-procurement threshold from P30 000 to P50 000 and the Quotations Proposals threshold from P150 000 to P300 000. ENDS
