BIHL Trust donates to Khawa Guest House

05 May 2016

Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) Trust has donated P120 000 to Khawa Guest House.

A press release from BIHL says the cheque that was handed over to President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama on Wednesday, was part of the trust’s efforts to heed government’s call for the private sector to empower Batswana.

BIHL trust administrator, Ms Tebogo Keepetsoe, as stated in the release, says the donation comes after the trust delegation visited Khawa in 2015 on a mission to scout for potential projects in need of its support.

Khawa, Ms Keepetsoe says, “provides a wealth of opportunities for investment, serving as a growing site of tourism and leisure. Our focus was on identifying how we, as a team, and on behalf of the subsidiaries of BIHL Group, can aid in unlocking the potential of such communities as Khawa further.”

Khawa Guest House is run by the village development committee. Therefore, the support provided by the trust will see connection of water and electricity, planting of trees around the guest house, installing of geysers, tiling the interior floors and the provision of kitchen equipment, such as industrial stoves, urns and crockery.

The trust, as per the release, provides support across a breadth of areas.

The trust’s areas of interest include poverty alleviation and economic empowerment projects.

“Each and every project the trust undertakes is centred on sustainable practice and long term impact on the local community,” added the release. Ends
