Bogogobo to benefit

03 May 2016

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has promised residents of Bogogobo in Kgalagadi South that the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) will cover their village.

He addressed a kgotla meeting at the village yesterday. The President said ESP would run for at least three years and Bogogobo would surely be included in the coming years.

President Khama’s comments followed Kgosi Benjamin Bailelwang’s concerns that no projects were earmarked for the village in the ESP .
Kgosi Bailelwang said there was lack of accommodation for civil servants especially for the police and tribal administration.

He also said they did not have transport for the tribal administration because their vehicle had been boarded. Furthermore, he complained about teachers whom he said had overstayed in the village and requested that the vacant post of deputy school head be filled.

Kgosi Bailelwang said there was need to have an access road along the border so that the police could easily patrol the area.

For their part, residents praised government for having built two houses for the needy, two houses under the poverty eradication programme, fence for the tribal administration offices and a hall. The president donated chairs to be used in the kgotla, 25 blankets for the needy and elderly, a football kit and candies for school children. Ends
