Murder accussed get bail

Magistrate Rosemary Khuto of Molepolole has granted bail to four men charged with murder, grievous bodily harm and three counts of assault.

The four Kelebonye Khan,  Mogomotsi Rantleru, Tefoyaone Maitewa and Phenyoyaone Mosalaesi of Molepolole were released on conditional bail.

They were also ordered to report fortnightly at Molepolole police station and not to interfere with witnesses.

Earlier when briefing court, state prosecutor Inspector Uyapo Koketso said investigations on the matter were still ongoing, saying they had not yet received the post mortem report and that the victim in the second count of grievous bodily harm had been discharged from the hospital.

He went stated that he met with the investigating officer who said the accused could be released on bail, further pleading with the court to make it conditional.

He also proposed that some conditions that could be attached to their bail should require the accused to bring sureties and also that the four report themselves to the police as investigations continues.

For his part, the defense attorney Sesupo Masaka pleaded with the court to consider the issue of sureties, informing court that except for accused one being Khan, the other accused relate hence it will be difficult to find sureties suggesting that they at least each bring a surety.

According to information before court, the four men murdered Kgotlayame Molefe on March 26, caused grievous harm to Bafana Batlotleng and assaulting three other people on the same day. ENDS
