New envoys present credentials

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has received letters of credence from Mexico, Spain, and Nepal envoys.
They presented their credentials at the Office of the President on Tuesday 26.
The trio was Messrs Mauricio Escanero of Mexico and Amrit Behandur Rai of the Nepal as well as Ms Figuerola Santos of Spain.
South Africa-based Mr Escanero said he was happy to meet President Khama and convey greetings from the President of Mexico.
He said he was looking forward to strengthening cooperation and relations between the two countries.
“I will be looking to explore cooperation avenues in different areas including trade, bio-diversity and agriculture,” he said.
Also based in South Africa, Mr Rai said the relationship between Botswana and Nepal had been excellent.
He said the two countries shared similar views on issues of regional cooperation and security.
Mr Rai said he would seek to improve areas of cooperation between Botswana and Nepal on areas such as trade and commerce as well as mining.
Ms Santos, who is based in Namibia, said she would improve the diplomatic ties between Spain and Botswana, which had been in existence for the past 35 years.
Ms Santos said she was aiming to improve trade and investment between the two countries.ENDS
