Hard work essential to success

Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, says public service underscores need for commitment and hard work.
Speaking at the ministry’s excellence awards , Minister Molefhi said workers needed to work together as a team to take the country forward.
“I have no doubt that this ministry has also contributed a lot to the development of this country especially in the area of infrastructure development and advancement of science and technology,” said Minister Molefhi.
Thus, he commended all award winners for their enthusiasm and hard work saying that represented the true spirit of service excellence and team work.
Also, the minister indicated ministries were faced with the urgency to deliver improved and effective services to customers usually with limited resources.
He added that ministry was challenged to come up with innovative approaches and solutions that would fast track service delivery.
“We therefore need an innovative workforce that can take service delivery to expected competitive levels,” he said.
Mr Molefhi also encouraged leaders at all levels to share knowledge and skills amongst others in order to upscale their fellow colleagues.
He further urged employees to carry out their responsibilities to see the success of the ministry.
Awards were based on performance, best in customer care, exemplary employees, silver jubilee and employee of the year.
Meanwhile, Mr Thapelo Otukile who works under the department of Radiation Protection Inspectorate, won the minister’s award.
Mr Otukile expressed gratitude to have been chosen for the minister’s award, adding only hard work, commitment and determination were best components of success.
Ms Onkemetse Thapisang, a messenger, also from the Department of Radiation Protection and Inspectorate, scooped the employee of the year award.
Ms Thapisang said it was by the help of her colleagues that she won the prize and expressed gratitude to them for recognising her hard work.
Mr Mooketsi Lematla won the best in customer care as well as Ms Lorato Modise who works as an intern under research, science and technology.
Ms Kesentseng Pego, a driver at the Department of Building and Engineering Services (DBES) won the exemplary employee award. Awards prizes included a certificate and P1500. ENDS
