21 Apr 2016

Ntlhatlhe Masters Football Club has embarked on a project to assist the less privileged members of the community to improve their livelihood.

The social club also seeks to remove the youth from the streets through sports and other available avenues.

Speaking in an interview, a principal registered nurse at Ntlhantlhe clinic who is also a member of the club,   Kgololo Moji said as part of the community, they mulled over lending a helping hand through different channels to better residents’ lives.

He said it was then that they came up with different community projects geared for the motive and organised a four team tournament in the village last year to raise funds to finance a number of projects.

The club arranged with the clinic authorities so that they utilised the opportunity to test the community for HIV/AIDS, diabetes and hypertension at the tournament.

The football club then identified a need to have a coughing spot in the clinic as it  was recommended by the ministry of health to help thwart the possible spread of Tuberculosis, he said.

The coughing spot at Ntlhantlhe clinic was built and handed over by the club to the relevant authorities last week Friday..

However, the club will continue with the good gesture by building a two bed roomed house for a disadvantaged family in the village, adding that the house had been roofed and was left with only minor works such as plastering and connecting water which they would finish before the handing over ceremony.

For her part, the matron at the clinic,  Jane Motlou was grateful for the coughing spot noting that it came in handy in the prevention of the spread of TB.

She said if they suspected that a patient was infected with the TB virus they should treat it as an emergency and immediately isolate him or her to the coughing spot in order to receive appropriate treatment. ENDS
